Smart Phones & Quick Response (QR) Tags

QR Tags are quickly becoming the most effective way to connect shoppers with digital experiences. A QR Tag is a bar code that communicates a digital message to a smart phone via a photograph. We just print your QR Tag on your project — it’s that simple and they’re free!

A QR tag can deliver product information through SMS/texting, or redirect a shopper to a website. QR tags are a great way to promote in-store contests and couponing.

Many Android, Nokia, and BlackBerry phones come with pre–installed QR Tag readers; iPhone users can download a free app.

A few tips to make your QR code program successful:

The larger the QR code is, the better. Making it larger results in a tag that is easier to read by your scanner/reader app. Make the code as large as possible within the available space, it is recommended to use a minimum size of 32mm x 32 mm (1.25 in. x 1.25 in.).

When creating a code, be sure to use good contrast between the background and the bar colour on a light background. Black and white will always be the safest bet. If you have to use colour, avoid cyan or magenta.

Each QR code requires a margin or “quiet zone” around it to be used. A rule of thumb for this margin is to use a four-module wide margin on all sides. A module is the smallest pixel element of a QR tag.
